Fiona Goldthorpe
Fiona Goldthorpe is a talented artist and designer living in Johannesburg.

"My design collection is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.

'Dia de los Muertos' is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world. The festival is a rich, colourful celebration of the souls of the departed. The intent is to encourage visits by the souls, so that they may hear the prayers of the living directed at them.
Celebrations take on a humorous tone, as celebrants remember anecdotes and fine memories of the departed.
A common symbol of the festival is the 'calavera' - skull, which celebrants represent in colourful graphic masks, and foods such as chocolate calaveras.

Many people believe that possessing Day of the Dead items can bring them luck and peace..."
